A rusty old “Stop Look and Listen” sign now long replaced by a more modern sign, lies neglected and abandoned by the side of a pedestrian railway crossing in Burgess Hill. The sign evokes memories of being kids in Burgess Hill during the school holidays. In those days we were allowed to roam at will from morning to evening, often crossing the railway lines whilst exploring. I can remember at least a couple of “Stop Look and Listen” crossings in Burgess Hill. They were unmanned crossings so you could walk back and forth across them as often as you like, it was a nice feeling of empowerment!
Worth a photo.
